The 35-year-old shot rounds of six-over-par 77 and four-over 75 in the opening two days at the PGA Tour event at Club de Golf Chapultepec to sit tied for 68th spot with Dane Lucas Bjerregaard.
The Warrnambool export, who last week finished tied for fourth at the Genesis Open, hit 10 of 18 greens during his first round on Friday
While on Saturday Leishman hit eight of 14 fairways and 12 of 18 greens in the second round.
The Australian hit four bogeys and two double bogeys in round one before shooting a further seven bogeys in round two.
American Dustin Johnson leads at 11-under, while fellow American Matt Kuchar and Nothern Irelands' Rory McIlroy are tied for second two shots behind.
