Stansfield will race in the Victorian Super Rod Title at Simpson Speedway.
He will be in control of his father Howard’s car.
“I have a bit of time off from the sprintcars so it’s always good to come back and race the super rods,” Stansfield said.
“I went through the ranks, I started in a junior sedan, then had three or four seasons in super rods, then formula 500 for six seasons, before getting into the sprintcars. The super rods are a lot of fun, they are a bit harder to drive than a sprintcar.
“Because they don’t have a wing, they’ve got nowhere near the grip.”
Stansfield has been in solid form on the sprintcar circuit, making the B main at Premier Speedway on the Sunday of the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic weekend.
His best finish for this season so far was a third in the Gold Cup at Avalon on Boxing Day.
Stansfield said he enjoyed racing at Simpson.
“Like most other tracks around here, I have done plenty of laps around Simpson,” he said.
“I always enjoy racing there, its a fun track.”
