That’s the belief of David Murphy, who has spent a decade carrying out the dual role at South West Cricket Association club Pomborneit.
“It can be tough as a keeper if you bat for long periods and have the pads on for most of the day,” Murphy said.
“Conditions this time of the year are not as taxing as when the heat comes after Christmas.
“Batting second is a bit harder, you have time for a quick bite to eat and then you are back out into it after 50 overs in the field.”
Murphy’s degree of difficulty is even greater, given he opens the batting.
He is in good form, making 102 against Camperdown last round.
Pomborneit plays Heytesbury Rebels on Saturday.
