The Suns on Monday night confirmed they had selected the athletic, marking forward under a special assistance package provided by the AFL.
The 22-year-old, who impressed scouts with VFL club Werribee this season, won the VFL’s most promising player award.
That award has become a ticket to the AFL with the previous 12 winners all going on to join clubs in the elite competition.
Corbett, who was restricted to nine games during the season because of injury, kicked 22 goals.
With the Suns farewelling high-marking forward Tom Lynch to Richmond in a deal finalised on Monday, Corbett is reportedly being earmarked to play as a third tall forward next season.
Eagles coach Graeme Twaddle earlier this season urged AFL clubs to pick Corbett, saying: “There’s no doubts about him taking the next step in footy."
