Eddie, 14, finished third in both the under 15 road race and time trial at the Victorian Junior Road Championships in Wangaratta on the weekend.
His reward for the two podium finishes was two bronze medals and a place in the Victorian team that will contest the National Junior Road Championships in Perth in September.
The Emmanuel College student is a talented sportsman, combining playing football and being a competitive swimmer with his time on the bike.
Eddie said his results at the state titles had exceeded his expectations.
“Going into the weekend I was hoping for a top 10 finish, it was pretty awesome to get two podium finishes,” he said.
“I did a lot of training with my coach Des Lane.”
Eddie said Lane would help him construct a training program leading into the national titles, with Victorian team coaches also having input into that plan.
While he is a rising star of the sport, Eddie said cycling was more than just about the results.
“The people are great, there is so much support from the riders I train with,” Eddie said.
