Andrews will return to Western Australia on Thursday after landing a new job.
Former Rangers mentor Cameron Pyke will lead training and Josh Dyer will take the reins on game day in his absence.
The second-placed Rangers have a bye on Sunday before three more home and away fixtures to round out their campaign.
Andrews said he was pleased with his charges’ standing in the competition and was excited to hear about how they’ll attack the final matches.
He said the bye came at an ideal time and would allow the Rangers to regroup.
They enter the break after a 7-3 win over Forest but Andrews believes they can play better.
“We need to take our chances when we have them,” he said.
“Our confidence has been down for a couple of weeks with a few losses. We’ll get players back into the squad which will bolster us up and be handy for finals.”
Clinton Demartin kicked three of Warrnambool’s seven goals against Forest.
“It was good to get back on the winning sheet,” Andrews said.
“We started slow but we knew we’d have the legs in the second half.
“We had 26 minutes without having a shot which was a bit unusual for us. We were two goals down and knew we had to turn it around.”
Meanwhile, Warrnambool’s women’s team fell short in the top-of-the-table showdown against Ballarat, losing 4-3.
