Peter Sycopoulis asked “why a mayor of a neighbouring municipality would be appointed to the advisory committee of the Warrnambool livestock exchange, when they have a vested interest in the Mortlake saleyards” at Monday’s council meeting.
Cr Doukas said he supported the South West Victorian Livestock Exchange and the Western District Livestock Exchange, which is currently under construction at Mortlake, after Moyne Shire approval.
“I don’t have a view on Peter’s comments one way or the other,” he said.
“I sell through Warrnambool and I don’t think being a councillor makes much difference. As for Mortlake, it’s a private enterprise. I don’t have any influence on what they do or how they do it.”
