After almost 25 years of preparing three-year-olds for education, the Panorama Avenue facility cannot survive on current enrolment numbers.
In a final attempt to keep the not-for-profit children’s centre open, operators are hosting a Save our Kinder emergency meeting on Wednesday night.
Kindergarten director Diane Essenwanger said all financial avenues had been exhausted.
“We have tried to keep our fees down for a number of years but rising costs and low enrolments have meant we’ve struggled,” she said.
The kindergarten, which opened its doors in 1993, will close at the end of the year if no solutions arise.
“We are approaching sponsors and we’re sourcing grants,” she said. “We need a philanthropic business or person to help us get back on our feet.”
All concerned community members are invited to attend the meeting on May 31 at 7.30pm.
