The creative hub, in Timor Street, will host a collection of Amanda Fewell’s works of reproduced Southern Cross flags.
The flags will form her latest exhibition, entitled Fly Your Own Flag.
Fewell’s hand-embroidered representations explore the varied Australian identities and attempts to define the term: ‘Australian values’.
Repetitions of the flag in various colours aim to tap into the symbol of the surviving spirit that Eureka represents.
The community-based exhibition will feature a session for children as well as artist floor talks and a community participation project.
Clare Gervasoni, the curator of art and historical collections at Federation University, will officially open the exhibition at The Artery on February 10.
