Krepp threw 50.40 metres to win the 18-20 years boys’ event at Albert Park this week.
He smashed the previous record of 39.06m set by Box Hill High School’s David Rankin in 2010.
The discus win was one of three medals Krepp won at the annual championships.
He also claimed the honours in the shot put (16.12m) and was second in the javelin (55m).
South-west athletes performed admirably in Melbourne, a fact reflected by a string of medal-winning performances.
Warrnambool College’s Tobias Lane won gold in the 15 years boys’ discus with a throw of 51.27m.
Cobden Technical School’s Cheyenne Rohan threw 36.83m to win the 17 years javelin.
Brandon Lawlor threw 12.84m to be second in the 12-13 years shot put.
Camperdown’s Mercy Regional College took home three bronze medals.
The school’s 4x100m 17 years boys’ relay team was third in 46.49 seconds and relay team member Declan O’Connor was third in the 400m in 52.60 seconds.
Courtney Stevens threw 11.16m to claim bronze in the 17 years girls’ shot put.
Other medallists from the region included Terang College’s Dylan Payne, who claimed bronze in the 16 years boys’ long jump with 5.90m; Mortlake P-12 College’s Zoe Tarbolton, who won silver in the 16 years girls’ long jump; and Timboon P-12 College’s Naite Brown-Nafatali, who won bronze in the 14 years boys’ javelin.
Emmanuel College’s 12-13 years girls’ 4x100 metre relay team was third with a time of 56.38 seconds.
Brauer College’s Jack Ansell leapt 12.21m in the 14 years boys’ triple jump to win silver, while Dylan Cox claimed silver in the 15 years boys’ javelin.
Riley Harris took bronze in the 15 years boys’ 200m.
Portland Secondary College’s Nadia Bunge won silver in the 17 years girls’ 400m.
