But they would enjoy watching him represent the Hampden league powerhouse on the AFL stage even more.
The draft hopeful claimed the Ron Hoy Medal for his starring role in the Saints’ third straight premiership on Saturday – just six days before an AFL under 18 all-stars match at Punt Road.
Midfielder Levi Nagorcka, who was also influential in the Saints’ second half comeback against North Warrnambool Eagles, collected the AFL Victoria Country Medal.
Drew said said he would celebrated the history-making performance before focusing on recovery.
“I’ll get down to the beach eventually,” he said after the Saints’ 33-point win.
Drew now boasts three senior premierships to his name before his 19th birthday.
The skillful teenager, whose poise and decision-making stood out against the Eagles, said he was humbled to be part of the Saints’ dominant period.
“It hasn’t really sunk in yet. This year I was with the (North Ballarat) Rebels and came back to Koroit, which was great,” he said.
“It is absolutely unreal. I am not too sure if this is my last game for Koroit – I’ll have to wait and see (what happens in the AFL draft) – but I love getting back.
“It’s such a great club to be around and I love all the boys.”
Nagorcka, who has battled severe shoulder injuries during his career, labelled the result “unbelievable”.
The Saints were as much as 35 points down early in the second term before rallying to end the Eagles’ dreams of a maiden Hampden league title.
They kicked four unanswered goals against the wind in the third term to rattle the minor premier.
“We had a big chat at half-time. We all just looked at each other and had belief in each other and started to get behind each other,” Nagorcka said.
“Our work-rate lifted in the last quarter and that’s pretty much what turned it.”
Nagorcka kicked a final-quarter goal which put the Saints 18 points clear.
“They were coming hard, so we needed something,” he said.
“It just fell in my hands and I snagged it.”
