The 2015 club best-and-fairest runner-up will retain the Eagles as his base club this season, but will look to take his football to the next level with the Tigers.
North Warrnambool president Pat Doran and co-coach Graeme Twaddle said Corbett had been training with Werribee with the Eagles’ blessing, and wished him well as he pursues a chance in the VFL.
Meanwhile, the Eagles have continued their busy pre-season of recruiting.
Twaddle said the club has secured the services of former South Warrnambool juniors Jeremy Stacey and Dom Moloney, whom he expects will bring another boost of energy to the Eagles.
“Both are enthusiastic, both have already played Hampden league senior football,” he said.
“We’re just hoping we can develop them even further in their football.
“Young Dom is a real athlete and Jeremy has got the speed and the skill.”
Twaddle said he could see both slotting into the senior side throughout the year, but would keep his options open for what roles to use them in.
Moloney is a former North Ballarat Rebel, while Stacey represented the HFNL in its under 18 interleague match last season.
The pair takes North Warrnambool’s signings to 10 for the season, but Twaddle was mindful the club has also lost some quality players from last year.
Sam McLachlan has signed with Colac as he pursues his goal of playing with Geelong’s VFL side, while Twaddle said Hank Schlaghecke has crossed to Dennington and Lachie Woodhams is relocating to Queensland.
“They’re big losses and their families are big losses for us too,” he said.
“(But) we’ve always been a club that prides ourselves on developing our juniors.
“Hopefully the quality of the players we’ve brought in with the likes of (Rory) Taggert and (Will) Verco and the Parkinsons (will help), but there’s still the development of our younger players that is crucial to us.”
