Auctioneer Brian Hancock, from Brian O’Halloran and Co., said the prime industrial site on the New Cooriemungle Road, Timboon, opened on a vendor’s bid of $350,000 before selling for $5000 more.
The 18-acre (7.5 hecatre) site was sold to a young couple who operate a transport company.
“The property was owned by Barry McVilly and he was more than generous letting it go at that price,” Mr Hancock said.
“He’s a very generous person and has given the couple a good start. They are tickled pink, absolutely over the moon.”
Mr Hancock said 20 people attended the auction, which had to be held in a shed due to inclement weather.
The property is on two titles with frontage to two main arterial roads.
Onsite improvements include lock-up and open bay shedding and a weatherboard house and office.
