At a meeting on Wednesday evening at Terang, the group outlined its campaign platforms to re-invigorate the dairy industry. Six speakers took to the stage at the town’s Civic Centre, with 31 people in attendance – a stark contrast to the group’s first meeting in 2013 at Noorat, where nearly 600 turned up.
Executive officer Garry Kerr said scrapping the cheap milk from supermarkets was a key priority.
“Farmer Power is happy to work with the United Dairyfarmers of Victoria and Dairy Australia on a campaign to get rid of one-dollar a litre milk,” he said.
Dairy farmers were also urged to sign a petition calling for a special general meeting with Dairy Australia to discuss a 25 per cent drop to its levy.
