Victorian Greens leader Greg Barber said the Apollo Bay resident would make an excellent parliamentarian. “Joe’s passion for the region would make him a great local representative,” Mr Barber said.
Mr Miles said Polwarth had been neglected by successive state governments.
“The train service isn’t good enough, our land is under threat from unconventional gas drilling and youth unemployment is too high,” Mr Miles said.
The constituency has been held by Liberal MP Terry Mulder since the 1999 state election. The former transport minister announced his retirement last week.
